Bobby Mitchell once dubbed himself golf’s “Invisible Man,” a nod to the lack of publicity he received after a second-place finish at the Masters. He was hardly invisible to those he touched in the Danville golf scene, however, both as a teacher and a professional player.

Crowning Moment…

Made a 20-foot downhill putt for birdie on the first playoff hole at the 1972 MONY Tournament of Champions to defeat Jack Nicklaus in a playoff.
