About Galen Hill
A 43-year career as a tournament Rules official culminates in a Hall of Fame induction for Hill, who now takes his place alongside Clyde Luther (2016), Wallace McDowell (2017), Dr. Lew Blakey (2018) and Richard Smith (2020) at Virginia Golf Hall of Fame inductees with authoritative knowledge of the Rules of Golf.
Crowning Moment…
In 2018 at The Federal Club, Hill worked his 40th VSGA Amateur championship as a Rules official.

- Worked 40 VSGA Amateur Championships, along with multiple VSGA Mid-Amateurs, Junior Stroke Plays and Senior Amateurs
- Served on U.S. Mid-Amateur and U.S. Senior Amateur committees and was a Rules official at the U.S. Open (10), U.S. Amateur (13) and U.S. Senior Open (multiple times)
- Head Rules official and responsible for course set-up for the ACC Championship for 26 years
- Portsmouth Sportsman of the Year in 2003, earning the award for more than 20 years of volunteer work with the Portsmouth Invitational basketball tournament
- VSGA President’s Award recipient in 2004
- Longtime tournament director of the Eastern Amateur, held at Elizabeth Manor Golf & Country Club
